Audi's A2 E-tron combines low cost with long range
Audi has introduced the A2 E-tron, a compact crossover starting at about $45,000. It features a drag coefficient of 0.24 and can travel up to 401 miles on a single charge with the right configuration. The vehicle is currently only available in Europe.
The A2 E-tron is a rear-wheel-drive compact crossover priced around $45,000. Its aerodynamic design, featuring flush handles and an enclosed underbody, achieves a 0.24 drag coefficient. With specific battery and motor choices, it reaches 401 miles on the WLTP cycle while consuming only 12.8 kWh per 100 km.
Inside, the vehicle debuts a curved panoramic display combining an 11.9-inch cluster and 12.8-inch touchscreen. It also introduces a magnetic fastening system for accessories. Currently, this model is exclusively offered in Europe, with no immediate North American release planned.
This vehicle could reshape consumer expectations for affordable electric mobility by proving that low cost and high efficiency are not mutually exclusive. European buyers may benefit most, gaining access to a practical, long-range crossover that supports home energy management through bidirectional charging. Its absence in North America may further highlight regional gaps in EV availability, potentially pressuring other manufacturers to accelerate similar cost-effective offerings globally.
