Audi's Compact A2 e-tron Boasts Top Efficiency and 400-Mile Range

Audi unveiled the A2 e-tron as its most efficient electric vehicle, with energy consumption of 12.8 kWh per 100 km and a WLTP range of about 400 miles. The car achieves a drag coefficient of 0.24 through aerodynamic refinements and offers three battery sizes, with the largest charging from 10 to 80 percent in 29 minutes. Priced from €38,200, it is designed for European customers and opens for preorders on September 10.
The A2 e-tron achieves its low drag through specific aerodynamic tweaks, including flush door handles and tighter wheel gaps. It offers three battery packs, with the largest requiring roughly half an hour for a rapid top-up, while smaller packs charge slightly faster.
The cabin features dual screens, and the car supports two-way charging to power external devices or act as a home backup source. Priced around $44,300, it is tailored exclusively for European buyers, with preorders opening in early September and deliveries slated for December.
The A2 e-tron could influence the compact EV segment by setting a new efficiency benchmark, potentially pressuring competitors to prioritize aerodynamics and lower energy consumption. For European buyers, the combination of long range and bidirectional charging may shift perceptions of entry-level EVs, turning them into practical household energy hubs. However, its exclusion from the US market limits its global impact, possibly reinforcing regional disparities in EV adoption.
