Pivetta Set for Padres Return After Long Elbow Injury Absence

San Diego right-hander Nick Pivetta will be activated from the injured list to start Monday against Washington, his first appearance since April due to an elbow flexor strain. The Padres can void the final two years of his contract because he has spent over 130 consecutive days on the IL, and his return comes as the team fights for a wild-card spot. Pivetta threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings in his last rehab start and is expected to be limited to about five innings.
