Veteran safety Harrison Smith returns to Minnesota for another year

Smith, 37, agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $16.25 million to play a 15th season with the Vikings. The team needed his experience after several injuries in its safety room, and Smith finished last season strong with two interceptions and a sack in the final five games. He will help defensive coordinator Brian Flores deploy other defenders in optimal roles.
